Everything about your love story is individual to you and your partner. The way you feel, how your love developed, how you look at each other. So why are we picking destinations that everyone and their grandma goes to?
Search up elopement locations on your computer and a few we know well will pop up instantly. Now I don’t mean to diss these tried and true places, they are stunning. But what if you flip the script and make your day even more one to remember by making it 100% yours?
So how do you find these once in a lifetime spots?

Photographers/Vendors
If you aren’t sure where exactly but you know the general area and vibe you’d want, you can discuss it with a photographer or vendor who has been location scouting there. Your best bet is a local since they'll be the most up to date on what to expect in the area and what it looks like currently. There are so many wonderful ones that have scouted these locations on foot to ensure you never walk in blind.
Vacations
Hit the road with your sweetheart, find a new place. Is it a campsite? A beautiful cliff that you found while hiking around hand in hand? Those places will mean so much more to you exploring it with the person you want to marry, and you can go back again and again to these spots that aren’t as crowded to have more meaningful moments.
Blogs/Magazines
Ever read up on the most obscure National and State parks in the US? How about National Forests, public land? There’s plenty of good lists to check out. Maybe it’ll take you somewhere new. You can always narrow your search by regions, plant life, activities, and so much more.
Maps
Open up your favorite map, Gaia, PeakVisor, Maps, and AllTrails, doesn’t matter. What catches your eye? Do you want a hike before your elopement, easy access mountain top? One of my favorites is Atlas Obscura, a map that shows you exciting obscure places based on location.
Now this article isn’t meant to downplay those iconic locations. They are tried and true, and there’s no wrong way or place to get married.
